Competitive Sets

Track up to 50 competitor apps. Get instant notifications when they update. See their changes side-by-side and benchmark your strategy.

Never Miss a Competitor Move

Competitive Sets lets you pick the apps you compete with and monitor every change they make to their store presence. When a competitor updates their title, swaps screenshots, changes pricing, or publishes a new version, you know about it immediately - along with the performance impact that follows.

In a market where small listing changes can shift rankings by dozens of positions, knowing what your competitors are doing gives you a decisive advantage.

How It Works

Create a competitive set by selecting up to 50 apps you want to track. ASODOG monitors each app daily across seven English-speaking markets. When any app in your set publishes an update or modifies its store listing, you receive a notification with a detailed breakdown of what changed.

Each change notification includes:

  • Side-by-side diff - See exactly what was modified in the title, subtitle, description, or other metadata
  • Screenshot comparison - Visual before-and-after when screenshots are added, removed, or reordered
  • Performance tracking - Ranking, rating, and review velocity in the days following the change so you can assess whether it worked
  • Historical context - How this change fits into the app’s broader optimization pattern over time

Side-by-Side Benchmarking

Beyond individual change tracking, Competitive Sets gives you a comparative view of your entire competitive landscape:

  • Optimization cadence - How frequently each competitor updates their listing and whether consistent updaters outperform sporadic ones
  • Keyword overlap - Which keywords you share with competitors and where there are gaps you could exploit
  • Rating trajectories - How competitor ratings and review volumes are trending relative to yours
  • Market coverage - Which markets your competitors are strong in and where they have blind spots

React Faster

When a competitor makes a change that improves their ranking, the window to respond is narrow. By the time you notice their rankings improving through manual checks, they may have already consolidated their position.

Competitive Sets closes that gap. You see the change when it happens, understand its impact within days, and can plan your response before the competitor’s advantage compounds.

Strategic Intelligence

Over time, tracking your competitive set reveals strategic patterns that one-off checks would miss:

  • Testing patterns - Some competitors run systematic A/B tests by changing one element at a time. Tracking these sequences lets you learn from their experiments without running your own
  • Seasonal strategies - See how competitors adjust their messaging around holidays, back-to-school, or other seasonal peaks
  • Feature signals - Release notes and description changes often telegraph upcoming product direction before features launch
  • Market expansion - When a competitor starts optimizing for a new market, their metadata changes reveal their expansion strategy

Use Cases

  • Active competition - Monitor direct competitors to stay ahead of their optimization moves
  • Category leaders - Track the top apps in your category to learn from their strategies even if they are not direct competitors
  • Acquisition targets - Watch apps you might want to acquire and understand their growth trajectory
  • Cross-category inspiration - Track successful apps in adjacent categories whose strategies might translate to your market
