Sign in with Apple
Apple's authentication service that lets users sign in to apps using their Apple ID with privacy-preserving email relay.
Sign in with Apple is an authentication system that lets users log into apps and websites using their Apple ID. It provides a fast, secure experience with built-in privacy features, including the option to hide the user’s real email behind a unique relay address. Since 2020, Apple requires apps that offer third-party social login to include Sign in with Apple as well.
How It Works
When a user taps the Sign in with Apple button, they authenticate using Face ID, Touch ID, or their device passcode. The app receives a unique identifier, a verified email address (or relay address), and optionally the user’s name. Apple handles two-factor authentication automatically. The relay system forwards messages to the user’s real inbox while keeping the address private from the developer. Subsequent logins require only biometric confirmation.
Benefits for Conversion and Compliance
Sign in with Apple reduces friction in onboarding, boosting conversion from download to registered user. Users trust Apple-backed authentication more than creating new accounts, which raises sign-up completion rates. For ASO, a smooth onboarding experience drives better ratings and reviews. Failing to include this option when other social logins are present triggers App Review rejection, blocking updates critical for maintaining ASO momentum.
